Work to Learn

Our working student positions offer a meaningful exchange of time, effort, and learning. At this time, only stall‑cleaning roles are available, and they require consistency, reliability, and the ability to handle heavy physical work. This is a weekly commitment; while we can flex as needed, working students should expect to come once a week on the same day.

Children are welcome to help, but an adult must take full responsibility for the position to ensure the work is completed safely and correctly. In return for your time and dedication, working student hours are compensated through trade for lesson time, creating a supportive balance of service, horsemanship, and growth within our barn community.

Internships offer a steady, hands‑on way to learn the rhythms of horsemanship and barn life. Interns commit to coming once a week and must have approval from the instructor they’d like to intern under. This consistency helps interns build real skills, understand barn flow, and become a reliable part of the team.

Interns work alongside an instructor to learn the ins and outs of horse handling, safety, and communication. They might assist beginning students with tacking up, help with barn tasks such as repairing fencing, cleaning stalls or troughs, or holding horses for veterinary or farrier appointments. A significant part of the learning also comes from watching lessons — observing how horses respond, how instructors communicate, and how riders progress. There is tremendous value in noticing the small details that shape good horsemanship.

Internships are ideal for students who want to deepen their understanding of horses, support the barn community, and learn through steady, real‑world experience.

We will announce work parties across our social media platforms, these are one-time projects that can be done in exchange for lesson credits. Some ideas for work parties include clearing trails, painting buildings, grounds-cleanup, fencing projects, etc. We will announce the days and times and how many lessons you can get credit for; this is a good way to participate in lessons at low or no cost.
